About the Fund
In March 2008, Allison, a 5th grade student at Harpswell Islands School, passed away after a heartbreaking battle with cancer. She was just 10 years old. Allison was known for her infectious smile and unwavering kindness to others. In honor of her memory, Allison's classmates began making "Happy Memories" heart pins out of clay which helped to raise funds for her family. Energized by the success of these pins and the desire to help others in need the Helping Hearts Fund was established in June 2008 by the Harpswell Islands School Community. Inspired by Allison's kindness and spirit of helping others, 100% of the proceeds of our products are dedicated to assisting families in need from the surrounding communities and towards promoting service learning opportunities and volunteerism among and for our youth.

An Inspired Heart
One of the first. These original Happy Memories Pins were created in memory of Allison and were the inspiration of her 5th grade classmates and the Harpswell Islands School art teacher, Betsey Bailey.
